The Franklin Rotary Club has begun its 80th year of service to the community along with its member association to Rotary International.  Founded in 1905, Rotary International began as meetings between business and professional leaders. The name Rotary was derived from the fact that every week the original members rotated the meeting locations among their offices. Over the last century, Rotary International has grown to over 32,000 member clubs in 200 countries and 1.2 million members worldwide.  The Franklin Rotary Club is proud to exemplify this year's motto, "Rotary Shares." Our Club continues to support literacy in the local community through donations to the Franklin Public Library, participation in the Reading is Fundamental Program, funding of $6,000 in annual scholarships to deserving high school seniors of the Franklin, Medway and Wrentham public schools.  The Club remains committed to the support of the senior population through our annual “Pasta Supper” This year, our Club, along with several other clubs within our district, has volunteered to donate labor and materials for the plumbing portion in the construction of a home for a deserving family in the international Habitat for Humanity program.

Our service projects are made possible through the funding of our membership, as well as the generous contributions of those supporting our fund raising activities.  A special thank you is extended to those who have purchased an ad in our annual Milford Daily News Tab Insert, attended our annual art auction attended our annual "Texas Hold Em" event, or made a direct donation to the club.  It is through this support that we are able to pursue our many worthy causes.

Membership in Rotary has allowed me to be part of something larger than myself. I am part of a group of individuals who work to do good in the community, across the nation, and around the world.

Sincerely,

Paul Cheli

President
