A Message from the Club President

The Franklin Rotary Club has begun its 82nd year of service to the community along with its member association to Rotary International.  Founded in 1905, Rotary International began as meetings between business and professional leaders. Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries. Our Club continues to support literacy in the local community through donations to the Franklin Public Library, participation in the Reading is Fundamental Program, funding of $6,000 in annual scholarships to deserving high school seniors of the Franklin, Medway and Wrentham public schools.  The Club remains committed to the support of the senior population through our annual “Pasta Supper” in addition to direct contributions to funding important needs at the senior center.  Our matching grant with District 7910 helped the Franklin Food Pantry obtain much needed office equipment and supplies. Franklin Rotary plays an important role with our youth as well through contributions to organizations such as project smile, the Hockomock YMCA and the aforementioned scholarships.

Our service projects are made possible through the funding of our membership, as well as the generous contributions of those supporting our fund raising activities.  A special thank you is extended to those who have purchased an ad in our annual Milford Daily News Tab Insert, attended our annual "Texas Hold Em" event, Purchased tickets to our raffles, or made a direct donation to the club.  It is through this support that we are able to pursue our many worthy causes.

If you would be interested in joining the most philanthropic organization in the Franklin area please contact me and be my guest for one of our weekly meetings.  We have a fun group that meets at 3 Restaurant on Thursdays at 6PM made up of strong community leaders all with a commitment to the ideals of Rotary.

Sincerely,

Archie Acevedo
